Two rural health districts on one platform: Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW
Two NSW local health districts covering a large part of rural New South Wales ran their public sites on one platform we built and supported for years.
Background
Two districts with the same job and the same kind of content do not need two different platforms. Both sites run on one, with the same structure and the same furniture, themed for each district.
What the sites had to do
Emergency advice comes first, at the top of every page, because someone arriving at a health district site in a hurry is usually looking for one thing. Below that sit the services each district runs, health information for the community, and the news and media releases that a public health service has to publish.
Recruitment matters more than it would elsewhere. Rural health services compete for staff, so careers has its own section and hands off to the NSW Health recruitment system.
Both sites carry the accessibility controls NSW government sites are expected to have, including text sizing and printer-friendly pages, and both publish the corporate documents a district is required to make public.
Running them
We support both sites under a contract renewed each year, and keep adding to them: a calendar rebuild, and a feedback widget so the districts can hear from the people using the sites.
