A stadium site for two different audiences: Parramatta Stadium
Western Sydney’s main stadium ran on our platform from about 2010 to 2013, serving both the crowd coming on Saturday and the people deciding whether to hold an event there.
Background
A stadium website has two audiences with almost nothing in common. One is the person coming to a match this Saturday who needs to know what they can bring in, where to park and whether there is a shuttle bus. The other is the person deciding whether to hold an event there at all.
The people coming to an event
For them the site carries the event schedule, ticketing information, conditions of entry, catering, security and the shuttle bus service, along with the stadium map, transport and parking, and nearby accommodation. Past events stay published rather than being deleted.
The people hiring it
Hire is not one page. It is broken down by the kind of event being planned, because a sporting fixture, a conference, a music event, a charity night and a community day each want to know different things about the same venue. Alongside it sits the practical detail an organiser asks for: the playing surface, corporate and media facilities, event management plans and special requirements.
The rest of it
The site also does the ordinary public work of a venue: press releases and news, a newsletter, the stadium’s history from Cumberland Oval through to the redevelopment, and the governance, management, sponsor and employment pages a public venue is expected to publish.
The stadium had been running on a Joomla site; we replaced it. It has since taken on naming rights sponsorship and become Pirtek Stadium, and we carried the rebrand through the site.
